Sports Commission – Chapter 2, Section 2-35The Sports Commission shall consist of seven (7) members nominated and appointed by the Mayor with consent of Council. The terms of the Commission members shall be for one (1) year, with the appointments made by the Mayor with the consent of Council. The members of the Commission shall serve without compensation. The Commission shall elect a Chairperson from among its members on an annual basis, which Chairperson shall not be a member of the Governing Body of the Borough of Matawan. The terms of all members of the Commission shall commence on January 1 of the year of appointment, and terminate on December 31st of the same year; or until a successor is appointed. Any vacancy occurring by reason of the death, resignation or removal of any Commissioner shall be filled for the unexpired term by the Mayor. (1971 Code § 2-19.2)
