Zoning permit applications are required to be applied for, reviewed and approved by the Zoning Officer prior to the issuance of construction permits for the above listed items. The forms are available online (listed below). All applications must be accompanied by a property survey showing the sizes of structures and their location. New dwellings and inground swimming pools require topographical surveys.
The Borough of Matawan is divided into different property zones. We have provided a link to the GIS map to help you identify the correct zone that your property is located in. This will enable you to download the correct Zoning application form. Please call our office @ 732-583-4200 ext. 120 to verify the zone before completing the application as each form lists the specific information regarding setbacks, etc. to that zone.

Business Certificate of Occupancy
All businesses located in the Borough of Matawan are required to have a Certificate of Occupancy. The Certificate of Occupancy application is required to be applied for, reviewed and approved by the Zoning Officer prior to occupancy. The fee for this application is $75 payable payable by check, cash (exact amount) or credit card.
Business License requirements & applications are obtained through the Borough Clerk's office.
